Learn more About Dr. Shakir

With more than a half-decade’s worth of experience in eye care, board-certified ophthalmologist Omar Shakir, MD MBA, has helped a variety of patients find comfort with their vision correction needs. Located in Greenwich, Dr. Shakir helps clients all over the Connecticut community.

As the founding partner of Coastal Eye Surgeons, Dr. Shakir specializes in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. Don’t let that fool you because we provide a wide range of vision correction services to ensure our patients are taken care of no matter what their issue is.

Dr. Shakir obtained his Doctorate of Medicine from Albany Medical College in New York, interned at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, completed a residency at the University of Florida, and completed a two-year vitreous and retina surgery fellowship at Yale University before founding Coastal Eye Surgeons. With the advancements we’re seeing in technology every single year, Dr. Shakir makes an extreme and honest effort to maintain the most high-tech office possible. This results in our patients receiving the best eye care possible and the most well-equipped eye doctors in CT.
